Brienno

Medieval village perched on the mountain slopes and intersected by alleys and stairways.

On the ancient origins, it was inhabited even before the Roman settlements as shown by the discovery of pagan areas dated fourth and fifth centuries. The first documents about the village date back to the Middle Ages when, in the twelfth century, allied with Barbarossa to fight against Milan. It became a fief of the Bishop of Como, including in the Nessus Pieve, in 1947 it was donated by Ludovico Sforza to Lucrezia Crivelli and in 1647 it passed to the Gallio family.
